Goodyear Heights Events

Akron's most nationally recognized historic community, designed in 1912–13 by landscape architect Warren Manning as a Garden City model for Goodyear factory workers. The plan favored sweeping curves over a street grid and wove in churches, schools, parks, and shops within walking distance — a state-of-the-art example of company-town planning that turned up in books and architecture journals nationwide. Goodyear Heights Metro Park sits at its core. Housing styles range across American Foursquare, Craftsman, Colonial, and Medieval Revival, with mature trees lining brick streets and hilly topography giving the community its name.
